3 quarantine facilities completed in Zamboanga Peninsula

Public Works and Highways Mark A. Villar announced that three (3) new quarantine facilities that can accommodate a total of 124 patients have been completed in Zamboanga and Basilan as part of the Department’s continuous effort to expand the healthcare infrastructure vs COVID-19 in the country.

Based on a report from DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia, Secretary Villar said that the constructed isolation facilities have individual rooms, separate entrance and exit for patient and staff, and comfort rooms.

Secretary Villar added that a total of 58 patients can now be accommodate in the new Isabela City Quarantine Facility in Barangay Sumagdang, Isabela City, Basilan while the Sindangan Quarantine Facility in Barangay Disud, Sindangan, Zamboanga Del Norte can take in 46 patients.

Meanwhile, a facility in Barangay Maasin, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay has been turned over recently to the local government unit and is now being used for isolation and health monitoring of 20 additional patients.

Under the guidance of DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local and National Health Facilities headed by Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, the projects were delivered to completion by DPWH Region 9 and its District Engineering Offices.

The Department is set to complete more isolation facilities nationwide to aid the Health Department and LGUs in this fight against the pandemic.
