Local farmers of Labason, Zamboanga del Norte have been experiencing a boost in terms of agricultural productivity after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the paving of a 706-meter farm-to-market road (FMR) in the town.

The newly-improved road in the amount of P12-million connects Barangay Lopoc and Barangay Dansalan, shortening travel time to just eight (8) minutes.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the completed project greatly benefits farmers in Labason relying on corn, chicken, and swine production for their livelihood.

Agricultural products can now be delivered more efficiently through a more convenient and safer road these farmers can utilize, added Secretary Villar.

Although unfavorable weather conditions were experienced in the past weeks, Secretary Villar commended the DPWH Zamboanga del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) which successfully implemented the paving of the FMR in less than two (2) months.

The local road paving is a convergence project of the DPWH and the Department of Agriculture (DA).
