Locals residing in low-lying areas of Barangay Poblacion in town of Albuera in Leyte are now protected from the dangers of the overflowing of river with the newly-completed flood control structure by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The 300-linear meter flood control project is under the government’s flagship, Build, Build, Build program funded under the 2020 budget.

“Every year, a lot of Filipinos face the dangers of flooding that result to loss of properties. We are hopeful that through this project, we can protect the residents most especially those residing near the river,” DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said.

Costing P41-million, the flood control structure includes the clearing and grubbing, steel reinforcement, slope protection, structure excavation, and embankment works.
