The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed two (2) road reconstruction projects benefiting uniformed personnel from various military camps and headquarters in Zamboanga Region.
According to Public Works and Highway Secretary Mark A. Villar, said road improvement projects include the P18.48-million concreting of 101 Brigade Camp del Pilar Circumferential Road in Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte and the repair of damaged paved road sections of Southern Command Main Road in Zamboanga City.
Secretary Villar, citing a report from DPWH Zamboanga del Norte 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO), added that the newly improved 1.13-kilometer 101 Brigade Camp del Pilar Circumferential Road also has provision of drainage, slope protection structures, and construction of a bridge.
“Since its completion, the road has provided convenience in the area through a safer and more efficient road allowing for a better accessibility inside the camp, which used to be occupied by the military personnel of the 51st Infantry and now used by the 97th Infantry Battalion,” Secretary Villar added.
Meanwhile, DPWH Zamboanga City DEO implemented the P10.4-million reconstruction along Southern Command Main Road in Zamboanga City, successfully upgrading a total length of 409 lineal-meters.
The military personnel and other end users of the Western Mindanao Headquarters and the Armed Forces fo the Philippines in Zamboanga City now experience a modernized and upgraded road with unreinforced concrete cement pavement and reflectorized lane markings for safety, said Secretary Villar.
Both projects were undertaken by DPWH in convergence with the Department of National Defense (DND).
