New Farm to Market Road Now Serviceable in Nueva Ecija

Tuesday, December 29, 2020

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a new farm to market road (FMR) to boost agricultural production and economic activities in Nueva Ecija.

Public Works and Highways Mark A. Villar expressed confidence that the new 1.6-kilometer road at Barangay Balaring in the municipality of General Mamerto Natividad will facilitate easier transport of vegetables, mangoes, and rice from and to nearby markets.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Nueva Ecija Second District Engineer Ricardo M. Puno said that the FMR road involves concreting of a two (2) lane road amounting to P12.9-million funded under the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

Secretary Villar also commended DPWH Nueva Ecija Second DEO for the swift completion of the project that started last August 2020 despite the hindrances brought by the pandemic.

“Not only do we aim to improve road condition to support local producers but also to ensure safe travel for motorists and residents traversing this local road,” added Secretary Villar.

This newly-completed FMR project was implemented in convergence and funded by the Department of Agriculture.
