Faster and safer travel to Palawan’s Estrella Falls is currently being experienced by visitors and locals, with the recent completion of a road improvement project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The once muddy and bumpy 2.2 kilometer portion of road leading to one of the cleanest falls in the country – the Estrella Falls in Narra, Palawan, has now been concreted.
Funded under the Department of Tourism-DPWH Convergence Program on Enhancing Tourism Access, DPWH Region 4B has completed the P30.1 million project involving the paving of the rough portion from Puerto Princesa City Airport to Barangay Estrella, Narra, Palawan.
DPWH was able to complete the project covering the removal of structure and obstruction, roadway excavation, structure excavation, embankment, aggregate base course, Portland cement concrete pavement and installation of reinforced concrete box culvert (RCBC) in just about four (4) months.
Palawan is most famous for its breath-taking landscapes, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors yearly. Thus, improving access to these places will give way to further boost its tourism industry.
