DPWH Conducts Partial Road Closure in J. Fajardo Bridge

Wednesday, February 3, 2021

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) conducts partial road closure on J. Fajardo Bridge in Brgy. 455, Manila City to give leeway for the on-going rehabilitation of the said bridge.

Major damages to the bridge sub-structure have been found which requires immediate replacement in order to prevent hazards for the motorists constantly passing by the area. Aside from the rehabilitation of the 45-year-old bridge, once completed, the project will be able to help deepen the estero bed which will then increase the carrying and discharge capacity of the Estero de Sampaloc.

On February 1, 2021 the DPWH-NCR thru the North Manila District Engineering Office began partially closing the bridge in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Manila Traffic Bureau, Local Barangays, and the Manila City Hall. The full mobilization of the bridge will begin once the major construction has started.

Motorists in the surrounding areas of the Fajardo Brige such as: A. Maceda St.; P. Florentino/V.G. Cruz; Maceda/P. Florentino; J. Fajardo/Matimyas; J. Fajardo/ V.G. Cruz; J. Fajardo/Cristobal; Cristobal/Arevalo; Prudencio/Pureza; Pureza/R. Magsaysay Blvd will likely experience traffic and buildup of vehicles during the construction. Traffic management schemes including provision of alternative routes and traffic signages have already been placed on strategic locations.
