
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed a 905-meter road connectivity for industry and trade development in Lasam, Cagayan Province.
In her report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Regional Office 2 Director Loreta M. Malaluan said that the newly-paved 2-lane road was constructed in intermittent sections of Barangays Aggunetan, Calapangan Norte, Calapangan Sur, Tagao, and Viga to further fuel investments to flourishing investments to the coconut, banana and citrus plantations ib these areas
“With better road infrastructure connecting the agricultural industries, balanced development in the area will be facilitated”, said Secretary Villar.
“By turning the bumpy, gravel road that hinders mobility and adds cost in transporting agricultural products into a well-paved road, we are able to assist farmers and land-owners who cultivate these plantations,” added Secretary Villar.
Funded under 2020 General Appropriations Act, the completed project in Lasam is part of the Convergence and Special Support Program with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
