The on-going extension of Skyway from main line toll plaza in Sucat, Parañaque farther down South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Susana Heights near the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway will facilitate faster trips to and from Southern Luzon to Metro Manila, Central and Northern Luzon.
Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar expressed optimism that despite the NCR Plus was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine, the construction of 3.9-kilometer Sucat-Alabang Skyway Extension Project can be completed soon to provide convenient travel to motorists.
Secretary Villar said that with this skyway extension project, motorists coming from Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon and Bicol Region can go straight to their destinations in Makati, Manila, San Juan, Quezon City, all the way to North Luzon Expressway.
“Together with cocessionaire San Miguel Corporation (SMC), we are targeting completion of the northbound segment by this second quarter while the southbound segment is being fast-tracked for delivery on or before the fourth quarter as part of our goal”, added Secretary Villar.
With the Sucat-Alabang Skyway Extension Project, travel time from the Skyway main line toll plaza in Sucat, Parañaque to Susana Heights in SLEX will soon be reduced by around 50%.
According to Secretary Villar, the extension project of adding three (3) lanes going north and two (2) lanes going south provides motorists a direct connection to Skyway 1 and 2 and the recently opened Skyway Stage 3.
The project also includes widening of the Skyway Alabang Toll Plaza to accommodate more motorists both from Northbound and Southbound directions.
