3 Eastern Visayas Roads Closed due to Typhoon “Bising”

Three (3) sections of national roads in Eastern Visayas Region (Region 8) are impassable as of 6AM, Monday, April 19, 2021, due to flooding and possible occurrence of landslide, brought by Typhoon ‘Bising’.

Citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar identified affected sections as: Wright-Taft-Borongan Road, Camp 5 Boundary – Jct. Taft in Barangay Binaloan, Taft Town and the Jct. Taft-Oras-San Policarpio-Arteche Road in Barangay Bigo, Arteche Town both in Eastern Samar, and the Biliran-Naval Road, Catmon Bridge Detour, in Barangay Catmon, Naval, Biliran.

The landslide-prone road at K0861+ (-439) - K0890+176 in Brgy. Binaloan, Taft was temporarily-closed for safety while the affected roads in Barangay Bigo, Arteche and Barangay Catmon, Naval are still submerged in flood water.

In the meantime, motorists may take motorist from Tacloban bound to Borongan and Taft-Arteche via Wright- Taft may take alternate route Jct. Buenavista- Lawaan-Marabut Road vice versa while those from Arteche bound to Jipapad & vice versa may take alternate route via Brgy. Imelda- Lapinig-Jipapad Road.

DPWH Quick Response Teams in affected areas have already installed warning signs and are on standby to clear and open road once deemed safe for road users.
