Villar Checks New Isolation Facility, Other Infrastructure Development at Camp Olivas in Pampanga

Public Works and Highways Secretary and Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar announced that additional 32 isolation beds are available at the newly-built quarantine facility at Camp Olivas, San Fernando City, Pampanga.

Secretary Villar said that a two (2) storey modular-type building composed of 32 unit bed with individual comfort room was put up as quarantine facility for COVID-19 patients to prevent the spread of the infectious virus.

“With the completion of this quarantine facility that also includes two (2) unit nurse/doctor quarters and two (2) unit utility room inside the compound of the regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 3, infected patients can be transferred to the facility where they can be monitored properly”, added Secretary Villar.

In his report to Secretary Villar, DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller Tolentino said that the quarantine facility completed in the amount of P25.435 million was implemented by DPWH – Pampanga 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) headed by District Engineer Almer C. Miranda and Asst. District Engineer Ruby H. Canlas.

Secretary Villar and DPWH Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut visited Camp Olivas on Friday, April 23, 2021 to personally check the quarantine facility as well as other on-going infrastructure projects that will benefit hundreds of police officers and law enforcement agents.

Secretary Villar together with Undersecretary Yabut and Director Tolentino inspected the 500 lineal meter construction of access road made of portland cement concrete pavement with drainage flume.

The P23 million road construction project which 75 percent completed and targetted to be finished this June 2021 also by DPWH Pampanga 1st DEO will create considerable impact not only to the community within the Camp, but also to the general public with significant reduction in the travel time to facilitate effective and credible police service and speedy response when needed.

The project will increase the capacity of the road section in the area, which in effect will facilitate the smooth exchange and transport from and to the other government agencies and will be part of the plan to support local businesses in the area.

Three (3) building renovation projects are also on-going at Camp Olivas namely, (1) Rektang Konek – Aksyon Agad (RKAA), (2) Regional Headquarters Support Unit (RHSU), and (3) Regional Barracks Building.

Costing P68.712 million, the project has an overall accomplishment of 42 percent and targetted for completion by this third quarter.

The reconstruction of existing building facilities will improve the overall condition of the headquarters, ensure safety and security, and create a conducive working environment for the PNP personnel and other occupants.
