An increase in connectivity and mobility will surely bolster the economy and tourism of the scenic municipalities of Palompon, Isabel, Merida, and other nearby towns in Leyte with the widening of bridges by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar identified the bridges undergoing widening under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) with a total amount of P53.6-million as Libas Bridge, Guinobatan Bridge, Calunangan Bridge, and Apale Bridge.
“From two (2) lanes, we are expanding the capacity of these bridges to four (4) lanes to compliment the already widened national roads”, said Secretary Villar.
“Once fully completed, these bridges will provide safer, faster, and better travel to motorists, and delivery of goods will be much easier,” Secretary Villar added.
