
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is in the process of improving the Sindangan-Liloy Road section in Leon B. Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte with two (2) on-going road upgrading and widening projects.
Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the DPWH Zamboanga del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) aims to expand capacity of the Sindangan-Liloy Road from existing two (2) lanes into four (4) lanes.
Citing reports from OIC-District Engineer Romeo A. Saladaga, Secretary Villar explained that projects involve the 1.67-kilometer road upgrading and road widening costing P81.43 million and another 916-meter road widening costing P47.09 million.
Secretary Villar said that the road improvement projects also cover the removal and replacement of existing damaged asphalt pavement with a portland concrete cement, construction of drainage and slope protection structures, and with other miscellaneous structures.
Construction works on the 1.67-kilometer road upgrading and road widening project, funded through the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2020, has already reached 95 percent completion as of May 2021 with scheduled opening date in July 2021.
Meanwhile, the 2021 GAA-funded 916-meter road widening, which is slated for completion in November 2021, has already posted an accomplishment rate of 75 percent as of end of May 2021.
When completed, the newly-upgraded road portions of the Sindangan-Liloy Road in Leon B. Postigo town are seen to facilitate faster delivery of goods and services while at the same time providing ease of travel to the commuting public.
