
A newly-concreted local road now benefits farmers in Barangay Balakan and Calucap, Salug Town, Zamboanga del Norte.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar said that Regional Office 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia has echoed the appreciation of corn, coconut and rice farmers for facilitating the concrete paving of road that reduces as much as 15 minutes travel time and maintenance cost of vehicles.
Regional Director Dia said that the 275-meter road concreting project was completed in two (2) months construction.
The once rough and bumpy road was turned into a concrete road with carriageway width of 6.10 meters, pavement thickness of 23 centimeters, complete with road markings, drainage and slope protection features for the safety of road users.
The P5-million Balakan-Calucap Road Concreting Project was implemented by the DPWH – Zamboanga del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).
