DPWH Completes 6-Storey Academic Building for Philippine Army

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has delivered the completion of another military learning facility for the Philippine Army.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar together with Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana led the ceremonial inauguration, blessing and turnover on Thursday, June 24, 2021 of a 6-Storey Academic Building for the Philippine Army Intelligence Center of Excellence (PAICOE), Army Intelligence Regiment.

Prior to the inauguration, a ceremonial groundbreaking was also held for the construction of two (2) storey building male and female barracks with ground floor as parking bay for the 11ISU Army Intelligence Regiment at Camp Panacan, Felix Apolinario NSFA, Davao City.

The new 6-storey building with 18 academic rooms at Philippine Army’s Legaspi Compound in Taguig City has a total floor area of 2,762.11 square meters.

This building is among the hundred infrastructure projects completed under convergence program dubbed Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad or TIKAS Program between the DPWH and DND, said Secretary Villar.

The inauguration, blessing and turnover ceremonies were also participated by Philippine Army Chief Major General Andres C. Centino; Col. Yegor Rey P. Barroquillo Jr.; DPWH National Capital Region Director Eric Ayapana, and District Engineer Medel F. Chua of DPWH Metro Manila First District Engineering Office.

Intended as additional learning facilities for the students/trainees at Fort Bonifacio, the P106 Million building project under Convergence and Special Support Program in support of national security was implemented through phases by DPWH Metro Manila First District Engineering Office.

Phase 1 was funded under DPWH CY 2019 Program while its Phase 2 was under the DPWH CY 2020 Program. A portion for the Completion Phase was funded under the DPWH CY 2021 Program.
