
Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary and Chief Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar announced that the on-going construction of Imelda District Hospital in Zamboanga Sibugay is targetted to be completed by this July 2021.
“We are fast-tracking the construction of this public hospital so that those who require medical care no longer have to bear long drives to reach hospitals. This will also be helpful in our COVID-19 response in the area,” said Secretary Villar.
According to DPWH Regional Office 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia, progress of work of phase 2 for the construction completion of the district hospital located in Barangay Santa Barbara, Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay is now at 93.14 percent.
The project is being implemented to address the currently limited access of the townsfolk to medical services and hospitalization.
Once completed, the new Imelda District Hospital will also benefit neighboring municipalities by providing additional medical facility that can fill the shortage of hospital beds due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Costing P49.4 million, the hospital building project is under the implementation of Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineering Office (DEO).
