DPWH: 5 roads closed; 7 with limited access due to flooding

Additional road closure was recorded in roads of Luzon due incessant rains spawned by the southwest monsoon and enhanced by Typhoon Fabian.

As of 6:00 pm, Saturday, July 24, 2021, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that all lanes of Baguio-Bontoc Road at K0362+600, Busa Bridge in Sabangan, Mt. Province; Abra - Kalinga Road, K0489+900 in Gacab, Malibcong, Abra; Mindoro West Coastal Road, Pag-asa Section in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro; and Manila Cavite Road K0015+(-207) - K0020+000.

Additional road closure was identified along Junction Layac Balanga Mariveles Port Road Zigzag Section K0160+000 in Bataan due to collapsed wheel guard. Maintenance crew has secured the area and are now preparing for sand bagging.

In the National Capital Region, two (2) national road sections are currently not passable to light vehicles due to flooding. This include the Imelda Ave., in Pasig City and the Quirino Avenue, from Alido Bridge to Zapote Flyover.

Also closed to light vehicles due to flooding are roads in Region 3 namely: Apalit Macabebe Masantol Road, K0057+700-K0063+400 at Intermittent Sections in Pampanga; igaa Plaridel via Bulacan & Malolos (Panginay Sect.) K0030+500-K0032+000 and Manila North Road Saluysoy Section, K0019+200- K0019+500 in Bulacan.

The Lemery-Taal Diversion Road K0128+(1045) - K0128+(- 300) in Batangas and Cavite - Batangas Road K0018+(-544) - K0018+943 are also impassable to light vehicles due to flooding.

A total of 338 personnel with 51 equipment and service vehicles have been deployed to monitor and restore access along affected sections.

DPWH urged motorists to take precautions, plan for travel time and double-check conditions of vehicle before getting on the road.
