The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in convergence with the Department of Tourism (DOT), recently improved a road that now facilitates better access to a tourist destination in Barangay Talic, Oroqueita City, Misamis Occidental.
Secretary Mark A. Villad identified the project as the newly paved road leading to Libatamaa Dam which showcases the clear and cool water of Layawan River.
Layawan River is considered as one the Cleanest Inland Body of Water in the Philippines.
Its pristine water flows directly from the bosom of Mt. Malindang and is ideal for fishing, swimming, and other water sports such as water tubing.
Costing P50 Million, the completed road improvement project is geared to boost tourism and entice more travelers to visit one (1) of the many sites to offer of Misamis Occidental.
“More than boosting the tourism of the City of Oroquieta, this improved road is now helping improve the livelihood of locals,” said Secretary Villar.
The access road is connected to a bypass road, allowing better access to and from Barangay Talic and the neighboring communities.
