In an effort to improve quality of life in Ilocos Norte, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a new flood control structure in the Municipality of Badoc and an access road in Pasuquin town.
According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the flood control structure along Badoc River now protects lives and properties of residents of Barangays Bangbanga, Pagsanjan, La Virge, and Alogoong.
The 251-meter river wall was implemented by DPWH Ilocos Norte Second District Engineering Office with a contract amount of P19.6-million funded under the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
DPWH Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office has also completed an access road project connecting Barangay San Juan to Barangay Surong in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.
The 744-meter road constructed with a total cost of P7.97-million under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) now aids residents in transporting agricultural products to the local market.
“With the completion of more infrastructure projects in Ilocos Norte, we are hoping to support agricultural production and help citizens recover during this time of the pandemic,” said Secretary Villar.
