In an effort to improve connectivity in Region 1, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of two (2) local roads in the provinces of Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that improvement of roads will facilitate better access of residents to basic social services especially with the current challenges brought by the pandemic.
Based on a report from DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, the rehabilitation of 725-meter Burgos-Agaga Road which is the primary access of residents in Barangay Agaga, Burgos, Ilocos Norte will hasten the delivery of agricultural products to local markets and business centers.
“With the improvement of the Burgos-Agaga Road, we are also hopeful that more tourists will visit the Kaangrian Falls and generate economic activity in Burgos, Ilocos Norte,” added Director Tan.
Meanwhile, Secretary Villar commended Pangasinan First District Engineering Office for the swift rehabilitation of the 1.2-kilometer road in Barangay San Vicente in Dasol, Pangasinan that was completed within four (4) months.
“The completion of infrastructure projects like these will never be possible without the dedication of our workers who are one with the goal of providing quality road to sustain national development,” added Secretary Villar.
The construction of the Burgos-Agaga Road and Barangay San Vicente Road were funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA), with total project cost of P9.79-million and P9.9-million, respectively.
