A drainage canal project was recently completed along Dipolog Boulevard in Barangay Miputak, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the newly-built drainage measuring 395.56 meters involves the construction of rectangular concrete hollow block lined canal, a single-barrel reinforced concrete box culvert, side walk, catch basin, curb and gutter.

“The new drainage system now collects and carries away excess and accumulated water during rainy days preventing damage to the concrete pavement and flooding along this iconic boulevard in Dipolog City,” said Secretary Villar.

According to Secretary Villar, Dipolog Boulevard offers the best sunset view in the city, hence frequented by locals and tourists. It has a spacious walkway, benches shaded with trees, and serves as the venue of local events such as the annual "P'gsalabuk Festival".

DPWH Zamboanga del Norte 1st District Engineering Office carried out the implementation of Dipolog Boulevard’s new drainage canal in less than four (4) months. A total of P5 Million was allocated for the project.
