The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently tested the quality and safety of its two (2) pilot Rock-Fall Netting Projects in the town of Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya.

Citing a report from the DPWH Nueva Vizcaya 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that that the newly-installed rock-fall netting projects now serve as slope protection along slide-prone portion of Nueva Vizcaya – Pangasinan Road in Barangay Imugan.

“Pull-out Testing was conducted by our team with materials engineer to check stability of the drilled anchor bolts holding the net protects the slope from road slips, collapse, and landslide,” said Secretary Villar.

Using pull-out testing machine, the DPWH team tested a minimum of three (3) anchored bolts if they meet the project’s design load specification thru Maximum Load-Design Load, Loading Cycle-Single Cycle, and Record Items-Load.

DPWH Nueva Vizcaya 2nd DEO District Engineer Glenn C. Miguel said they intend to apply the same technology in other slide-prone roads under their jurisdiction.
