2 Flood Control Structures Built in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed additional flood mitigation structure to protect residents in the Municipality of Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado, Regional Office 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said that two (2) floodwalls were completed just in time for the rainy season along the riverbanks of Sinucalan River ib Barangay Ventinilla and Binco River in Barangay Sonquil.

Construction of the 227-meter floodwall in Sinucalan River and 207-meter floodwall in Binco River involves the construction of concrete revetment with steel sheet piles foundation to provide timely infrastructure for the residents.

A total amount of P29.4-million and P27.5-million were allocated under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for the implementation of the projects in Sinucalan and Binco Rivers, respectively.

Secretary Mercado commended the DPWH Pangasinan Fourth District Engineering Office (DEO) for the swift completion of the projects which took less than 180 calendar days from commencement despite the work challenges brought by COVID-19 pandemic.
