A 555-meter road concreting project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now serves both farmers and residents in the Municipality of Salug, Zamboanga del Norte.
Based on a report submitted to DPWH Secretary Roger "Oging" Mercadoo, the P10-million road concreting project involves earthworks, base preparation, drainage and slope protection structures, and paving of portland cement concrete.
“With this safe and seamless road network, delivery time of farm produce to bigger commercial hubs in the city will be reduced by 25 minutes, ensuring fast and more efficient return of investment for local farmers and small and mid-size enterprise owners,” said Secretary Mercado.
The road concreting project implemented by DPWH - Zamboanga del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office along Balakan-Calucap Road is beneficial to a population of 2,219 with livelihoods that revolve mainly on farming.
