Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Roger G. Mercado inspected an operational modular health facility suitable for mandatory quarantine put up by DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) in Pasay City.
“We are checking if facilities after months of use remain conducive to people experiencing mild symptoms or if we need to undertake preventive maintenance of some parts,” said Secretary Mercado during his inspection of an isolation facility with off-site dormitory for medical personnel along J.W. Diokno Boulevard, Pasay City together with DPWH Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut, Undersecretary Maximo L. Carvajal, Assistant Secretary Wilfredo S. Mallari, and DPWH National Capital Region Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas.
“Our isolation facilities, although temporary, must be properly-maintained, so that we can continue to address the needs of patients who are recovering, while preventing spread of infection to healthcare workers,” added Secretary Mercado.
In NCR, the DPWH has built and converted a total 34 isolation facilities with 3,787 bed capacity.
Seven (7) facilities are in Pasay City, two (2) each in Pasig and Muntinlupa City, one (1) each in Makati, Marikina, San Juan, Las Piñas, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela City, three (3) in Parañaque City, four (4) in the city of Manila, and eight (8) in Quezon City.
Each facility is equipped with fully-airconditioned rooms, beds, toilet and bath, some with dormitories for healthcare workers that have living, dining, kitchen, and laundry areas.
