Secretary Mercado Inspects Military Facility Project at Fort Magsaysay

Department of Public Works and Highways Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado visited Thursday, March 3, 2022 the Army Artillery Regiment’s Headquarters inside Fort Ramon Magsaysay Military Reservation in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija to assess the development of projects implemented under the Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) convergence program with the Department of National Defense (DND).

Joining Secretary Mercado in the inspection are DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, Assistant Director Denise Maria M. Ayag, Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Y. Trinidad, OIC-Assistant District Engineer Robert Jay N. Panaligan, and TIKAS Coordinator retired General John Dominic Pulido.

The DPWH officials were received by BGen Romulo A. Manuel Jr, Commander of Army Artillery Regiment (AAR).

Among the projects inspected are the two (2) units of Training Barracks amounting ₱19.5-million that will be used by AAR personnel undergoing training.

“The past years saw the improvement of military facilities through implementation of projects under the TIKAS Program”, Secretary Mercado said.

In Nueva Ecija alone, the DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office has implemented ten (10) projects amounting to P206-million in 2021, and eighteen (18) more projects are funded under the FY 2022 General Appropriations Act with a total value of P304.4 million.

The projects are for the various units of the Philippine Army stationed inside Fort Magsaysay.

A foyer honor was given to Secretary Mercado upon his arrival followed by signing at the guest book, executive session, tour of facilities and inspection of DPWH implemented projects.
