The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished paving an access road for locals in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.
Spanning 4.7 kilometers, the concreted road now better connects Barangays Salvacion, Lanipe, and Oracon in the municipality of Nueva Valencia and allows easier delivery of basic goods and services between neighboring towns.
“With the project’s completion, public facilities such as markets, schools, clinics, and other commercial establishments have also become more accessible, improving the socioeconomic condition of people living within the area,” said Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing a report from DPWH Region 6 Director Tiburcio DL Canlas.
The road project also boosts the thriving agriculture industry of Guimaras as local farmers in the municipality benefit from the improved transport of products like their renowned mangoes, cashew, and other crops to nearby markets.
Moreover, better travel experience awaits locals and visitors going to various tourist attractions in Nueva Valencia such as the Biker’s Hill Resort and Taklong Island National Marine Reserve (TINMAR) through the enhanced traffic safety and road capacity provided by the project.
Costing P98.7 million, the road concreting project was undertaken by DPWH Guimaras District Engineering Office.
