The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed the rehabilitation of Cabiao Viaduct along Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Nueva Ecija.
DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the repair works on Cabiao Bridge was undertaken by DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Y. Trinidad emphasized the importance of conducting repair works on the bridge utilized by heavy vehicles to preserve and extend service life as they are not only vital in maintaining connectivity between communities but are also essential part of inter-regional delivery of goods and services.
This, according to District Engineer Trinidad, is the reason why the DPWH worked on the efficient implementation of the project that was finished months ahead of its target completion date originally set in June 2022.
Secretary Mercado commended the district office for ensuring better mobility for motorists and hauling trucks coming and heading to southern Nueva Ecija through the route that also serves as an alternate way going to the northern municipalities of San Isidro, Jaen, and Gapan.
The bridge rehabilitation project costs P14.46 Million funded from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of fiscal year 2022.
