Various road construction projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Tarlac Province will facilitate agricultural productivity and rural development, benefitting residents and farmers.

DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 (DPWH-RO3) Director Roseller A. Tolentino, identified the newly-paved roads as the 4.14-lane kilometer Barangay Sta. Lucia Road in Capas town and 1.65-lane kilometer Barangay San Martin-Barangay Lilibangan Road in Concepcion town.

Both completed in April 2022, the Barangay Sta. Lucia Road and Barangay San Martin-Barangay Lilibangan Road now enable easier access to local health centers, educational facilities, and other social services in the recipient communities.

Secretary Mercado said that efficient delivery of local products is expected as farmers can utilize the improved roads for faster and safer transport of crops and other farm produce from the agricultural barangays to different market centers in the province.

Meanwhile, another 1.33-lane kilometer road concreting project that connects the barangays of San Isidro (formerly Almendras) and Talimundoc Marimla in Concepcion is targeted for completion this July 2022.

The road is designed with stone masonry to stabilize the base and has a 0.30-meter pavement thickness to withstand heavy moving loads.

The projects, all implemented by the DPWH Tarlac 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), has a total cost of P46.73 million funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022.
