The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has ended Barangay San Agustin, Abulug, Cagayan residents’ years of traversing through a muddy, unpaved road by implementing a road concreting project.
DPWH Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing a report from the DPWH Region 2 Office said that the newly-paved road with a total length of 1.15 kilometer now provides convenience of travel to residents and visitors of the said barangay.
Secretary Mercado said that the improvement from gravel road to concrete road made possible through the Department’s Local Infrastructure Program, allows better livelihood opportunities for locals in the area.
“Since the new road is directly connected to the national highway, markets, schools, hospitals and offices are now more accessible,” said Secretary Mercado.
The completed road project implemented by DPWH Cagayan 2nd District Engineering Office has a total allocation of P11.32 million from the 2020 and 2021 General Appropriations Act.
