Residents and local farmers are reaping the benefits of a newly-paved road built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the agricultural community of Barangay San Matias in Lubao, Pampanga.

DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino said that the upgrading of 264-linear-meter gravel to concrete road in Barangay San Matias will facilitate better accessibility in the area.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that with the improved road, farmers are now able to easily transport their equipment and produce from farmlands to market centers in their town and province.

The DPWH Pampanga Second District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the construction of the road, which started in February 2022 and was completed in just three (3) months.

Secretary Bonoan was earlier instructed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to include in the DPWH priorities infrastructure projects that would complement in the food security program of the government and to help reduce farm production costs and improve profit.

The paving of the local road in Barangay San Matias is a P4.9-million project funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022.
