The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently built a flood control structure along Porac River that now protects communities in the Municipality of Porac in Pampanga.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, based on a report from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, said that a 445-lineal meter flood control structure was completed in Barangay Hacienda Dolores, Porac, Pampanga.

The newly-built protective structure ensures the safety and protection of lives and properties in Porac’s flood prone areas by simultaneously preventing river waters to cause raging floods to communities as well as riverbank soil erosion

Local farmers will also benefit from the flood control structure as it secures nearby agricultural fields from Porac River overflowing in times of typhoons and heavy rains.

DPWH Pampanga Second District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the construction of the P48.9-million flood control structure, which was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022.
