The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished paving an access road leading to tourist destinations along the coastal part of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Costing P25.6 million, the construction of the 1.04-kilometer portland concrete cement pavement road was undertaken by DPWH Negros Occidental 3rd District Engineering Office in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Other works on the road improvement project include the construction of grouted riprap and stone masonry, provision of metal guardrails, application of thermoplastic pavement markings, and installation of solar LED lights.
DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the concrete road now provides access to Punta Bulata, a must-visit destination in Cauayan offering pristine blue waters, a majestic white beach, and quality resort to accommodate both local and foreign tourists.
“The convergence project will help draw more visitors to the scenic beaches and rich marine products in the coastal part of Negros Occidental, boosting tourism and spurring local economic activities,” Director Bueno added.
With the improved road, fisherfolks can also easily transport their products at a lower cost and residents now have better access to the national road leading to government facilities and other commercial establishments,” added Director Bueno.
