The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the rehabilitation and widening of Marimla Bridge to facilitate unhampered flow of traffic along Lubao Diversion Road in the Province of Pampanga.
DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Regional Operations in Central Luzon Roberto R. Bernardo, said that the widening of the 30-lineal-meter bridge will provide improved mobility at Lubao Diversion Road which is an alternative to the busy Jose Abad Santos Avenue.
According to Director Tolentino, while road widening initiatives previously undertaken along Lubao Diversion Road were seen effective in accommodating the increasing volume of vehicles traversing the road, the two (2)-lane Marimla Bridge had become a traffic chokepoint causing inconvenience to motorists.
Through the rehabilitation project, the Marimla Bridge has been strengthened and expanded with additional two (2) more lanes to ensure safety and ease of travel of the commuting public.
Funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022, the DPWH Pampanga Second District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the bridge rehabilitation and widening project in the amount of P43.42 million.
