An asphalt overlay project undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now facilitates enhanced travel safety and efficiency along the Iloilo-Capiz Road (New Route) in Roxas City, Capiz.

According to DPWH Regional Office 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, the project covers a total length of 2.05 kilometers which involves a 50-millimeter thick asphalt overlay with reflective pavement markings and additional solar studs for improved visibility.

The P35 million project is a preventive maintenance to extend the service life of the road and avoid early deterioration.

The Iloilo-Capiz Road (New Route) is a primary road linking the cities of Roxas and Iloilo, making it an essential artery for both local commuters and tourists. Hence, the road upgrade brings immense relief to motorists as it eliminates uneven surfaces and reduces the risk of accidents.

The asphalt overlay project was implemented by DPWH Capiz 1st District Engineering Office.
