The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officially kick-off on Monday, March 4, 2024 the 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration highlighting the dynamic contributions of the Department’s women leaders and employees.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, together with DPWH-Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Chairperson and DPWH Undersecretary Maria Catalina E. Cabral, led this year’s celebration centered on the theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” with sub-theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!“ in efforts to showcase women’s full potential in actively engaging and contributing to national growth and development.
The agency’s month-long celebration started with the flag raising ceremony followed by festive performances, the launching of an exhibit featuring women leaders, and recognition of DPWH exemplary women leaders as champions of women empowerment, equal access to opportunities, and gender inclusivity.
“These activities are aimed to uplift not just the women but also those who continue to fight with them, support them, and strengthen them in this advocacy so they can pursue greater heights in this field and in the society,” said Undersecretary Cabral.
Among the activities lined up for the month-long celebration include free wellness services, zumba dance, online forum on social issues and key legislations directly affecting women’s rights, recognition of exemplary women leaders from the DPWH field offices, and outreach program for selected beneficiaries.
