A farm-to-market road (FMR) constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has linked the once remote barangays of Cabatuan and Colosboa to the town center of Cuyapo in Nueva Ecija.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, said that the DPWH Nueva Ecija First District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the Barangay Cabatuan to Barangay Colosboa FMR project.

The project included the construction of 1.2-kilometer long, five (5)-meter wide, two (2)-lane road using portland concrete cement pavement, strengthened by aggregate subbase course, reinforcing steel, and structural concrete.

With the improvement of the old muddy to concrete paved road, travel time between the far-flung communities and the municipal proper of Cuyapo was drastically cut from one (1) hour to just 20 minutes.

“Daily road users composed of residents, students, tourists, entrepreneurs, farmers, and truck drivers now reap the benefits of the safer and faster road connection,” said OIC-District Engineer Osias A. Santos.

The construction of the Barangay Cabatuan to Barangay Colosboa FMR in the amount of P11.94 million was funded under the convergence program between DPWH and the Department of Agriculture (DA).
