In its bid to decongest Metro Manila roads, a clearing operation along one of the busiest thoroughfares in Tondo, Manila was conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) together with other government agencies.

Earlier, DPWH National Capital Region Director Melvin C. Navarro sought the assistance of the City Government of Manila in the removal of obstructions along Radial Road 10 particularly between Delpan Bridge and Vitas Bridge.

The DPWH, in coordination with the Manila City Government, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Manila Police District (MPD), towed several vehicles illegally parked along Delpan Bridge to Vitas Bridge in Radial Road 10, Tondo, Manila.

Obstructions which include structures, couches, carts and garbage within the road and sidewalk were also removed.

According to Engineer Eduardo Santos, Assistant Division Chief of DPWH NCR-Maintenance Division, the clearing operation was conducted inasmuch as illegally parked vehicles and obstructions caused heavy traffic in the vicinity.

“We are thankful for the assistance we received from the LGU and other government agencies. The operation has been peaceful and organized through the systematic coordination with various government offices and the cooperation of vehicle owners and residents,” said Santos.
