To resolve the gap in student classroom ratio in Western Mindanao, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region IX fast tracks the implementation of school building projects in time for the opening of classes in June.
As of May 31, 2016, DPWH IX completed 311 classrooms while 1,139 classrooms are on-going for a total cost of Ph2.1B under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund of the Department of Education (DepEd).
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) also allocated Php91M for the construction of 30 classrooms. The additional facilities are both timely and relevant with the onset of the K to 12 program implementation this school year.
Quality school buildings facilitate quality education, thus the Department has made sure that the design of the structure is economical, environmentally friendly and more importantly, conducive to teaching, learning and social interaction.
