The Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 10 organized a consultative discussion for the Conduct of Master Plan and Feasibility Study for Urban Drainage Improvement in Cagayan de Oro City last October 23, 2015.

The meeting was presided by Regional Director Evelyn T. Barroso together with the division chiefs, representatives from specific barangays, professional consultants and engineers. UP-PLANADES Coordinator Jessie Floren presented the objectives of the meeting which aimed to identify and validate flood-prone areas to be able to prepare and develop a drainage master plan that will provide a holistic drainage and storm water management program.

Representatives from flood-prone barangays such as Brgy. Bulua, Brgy. Carmen, Brgy. Patag, Brgy. Kauswagan, Brgy. Bonbon, and Brgy. Bayabas, identified the extent of the affected population of the flooding problem and its causes through a workshop. The output maps of each barangay will be evaluated and processed by UP-PLANADES and DPWH-X to be able to come out with a more accurate master plan for drainage systems in the city.
