The Department of Public Works and Highways warned the public against unscrupulous individuals soliciting money by dropping the name of Public Works Secretary Mark Villar.
Citing recent reports, DPWH said extortionists misrepresent themselves as Villar in their solicitation activities, which includes sponsorships for golf-tournaments, concerts, etc.
“We’d like to advise the public that such fraudulent, illicit activities are not authorized by the Department. I am not in any way engaged in any solicitation activity nor will I endorse any individual, group or entity,” he added.
Villar reminded the public to be wary of such extortive activities and to take necessary safeguards before entering into suspect transactions.
“We will investigate on this matter and ensure that name-dropping solicitors do not go unpunished. Do not use my name,” Villar added.
