The Department of Public Works and Highways has mobilized maintenance team and equipment to clear rockslide at Basco-Mahatao-Ivana-Uyugan-Imnajbu Road in Ivana, Batanes.
In a report from DPWH Regional Office 2, an estimated volume of 750 cubic meters of rockslide has closed to vehicular traffic a road section at KM 8+750 of Basco-Mahatao-Ivana-Uyugan-Imnajbu Road.
Motorists are advised to use the interior Mahatao-Imnajbu Road as an alternate route.
The continuous heavy rains affecting the Province of Batanes triggered the rockslide.
Appropriate warning signs were also installed to ensure safety of the motorists and proper coordination was made with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and the local government unit of Batanes.
