DPWH Completes Replacement of Narrow Bridge in Batangas

A new bridge completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways in Lemery, Batangas is now serving thousands of commuters and facilitating better transport of products to market centers.

DPWH completed Bridge 10, a 28.8-meter single span, double-lane concrete bridge in Barangay Bagong Pook, Lemery, Batangas at a cost of P31.7 million under the Mega Bridge for Urban and Rural Development Project (MBURDP).

Prior to the construction of the new bridge, residents of Barangay Pook utilized an old single lane bridge made of timber and steel components.

DPWH Improved Access to Mt. Makiling

The DPWH Laguna II District Engineering Office, in support to the key priorities of the Aquino Administration has continued to contribute a sustainable road network to ensure economic growth, reduction of poverty and global competitiveness. One of the most remarkable projects of this Office for CY 2014 is the “Construction/Improvement of Access Road Leading to Declared Tourism Destinations at Mt. Makiling Eco-Tourism Road, Los Banos, Laguna.” The project includes concreting of road with 1,134 linear meters, width of 5.00 meters including shouldering works.

Drainage Project

District Engineer Lino C. Francisco of DPWH Leyte 4th District Engineering Office went on inspection to evaluate the on-going improvement of drainage system along Palompon-Isabel-Merida-Ormoc Road, K1131+444 – K1131+560, Ormoc City. Located near the business establishment and some residential houses the drainage structure will help ease the flooding at the city proper of Ormoc City.

DPWH to Effect Protection Works on Philippines' Highest Bridge

Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson directed DPWH Region 8 to protect the structural stability of Agas-Agas Bridge, the highest bridge in the Philippines situated along the Daang Maharlika in Sogod, Southern Leyte.

Singson said that in view of the observed occurrence of landslides and scouring at bridge piers 1 and 2 following recent experienced of heavy rains in the area, this could seriously damage the foundation of the superstructure if neglected.

Bridge Repair

Repair works for the Typhoon “Yolanda” damaged the Panilahan Bridge is now on its way for completion. Leyte 4th District Engineer Lino Francisco Gonzalez inspects the repair works to make sure that activities is in accordance to plans and specifications. The bridge which is the only connection between Ormoc and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.

DPWH Scholar Wins Best DAP Re-Entry Project

Ms. Adeluz L. Capacillo, an Accountant of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 2 Office bagged two major awards during the Public Management Development Program graduation rites held on October 3, 2014 at the Development Academy of the Philippines, Tagaytay City.
