Paved Tourism Road Boosts Local Economy in Bani, Pangasinan

The construction of an access road leading to Tubong Beach and Dacap Sur Pilgrimage Site in Bani, Pangasinan was completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in convergence with the Department of Tourism (DOT).

In her update to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Pangasinan 1st District Engineer Marieta B. Mendoza said that the paved road with a total length of 563 meters now benefits the local community and tourism industry of Bani.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with its consultant CTI Engineering International Co., Ltd., organized on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 a Stakeholders Engagement Forum focusing on the ongoing feasibility study of the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network (LLRN) Project - Phase 2.

The event held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) provided a forum for discussing the project’s scope, benefits, and potential environmental and social impacts, as well as addressing the concerns and suggestions of the stakeholders.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has built a flood control structure to address long-standing flooding issues along Matagoy Creek in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel identified the completed project in Barangay Rizal as a 770-lineal meter stone masonry structure with embankment from borrow and installation of metallic-coated gabions.

“The structure will directly benefit communities residing along the creek and nearby subdivisions, ensuring their safety during heavy rains or typhoons,” said Director Oropel.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed the construction of a river control structure as a long-term solution to flooding brought by Talavera River in Barangay Pag-asa, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.

Completed is a 266.00-linear meter slope protection project built from steel sheet piles, supported by concrete beam coping and gabions, aimed at preventing river overflow and reducing flood risks during the rainy season, and minimizing water damage to the surrounding areas.
