DPWH Builds Eco-Tourism Facilities in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental

Two (2) eco-tourism projects were recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to make Katunggan Boardwalk and Mangrove Sanctuary in Barangay Caranoche, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental more accessible to tourists.

DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 7 Director Edgar B. Tabacon, said that the mangrove forest now has a 6-storey high viewing deck tower, boardwalk, hanging bridge, receiving platform including electrical facilities.

DPWH Delivers Southern Iloilo's First Permanent Evacuation Center

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently constructed a multi-purpose building that doubles as an evacuation center for the residents of Miagao, Iloilo in times of calamities and emergency situations.

According to Secretary Roger G. Mercado, the completion of the P39.5-million structure, which stands a few kilometers away from Miagao’s town proper in Barangay Kirayan Tacas, was made possible through the efforts of DPWH Regional Office 6.

DPWH Region 9 has a programmed amount of ₱14.733 Billion for infrastructure for the Fiscal Year 2021.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken in 2021 a total of 1,326 infrastructure projects that now benefit the people of Bicol Region.

DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado and Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut lauded Regional Office 5 headed by Director Virgilio C. Eduarte, for facilitating the construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and widening of 216 roads with a total length of 188.2 kilometers, 45 permanent bridges, and 129 flood mitigation structures with an overall length of 69.26 kilometers.

The completion of the San Mateo – Alfonso Lista Diversion Road Project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has facilitated faster and more convenient travel for residents, especially farmers, from the town of Alfonso Lista, Ifugao.

Based on a report submitted to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar by the DPWH Ifugao Second District Engineering Office, the 2-kilometer section in Alfonso Lista has greatly improved accessibility and is now enabling farmers to easily bring their products to the market.
