DPWH Kicks Off Month-Long Celebration for Women's Month 2022

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officially launched month-long activities and programs on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 in celebration of the National Women’s Month – enacted through Presidential Proclamation 227, series of 1988.

The annual celebration focused on the theme “WE Make CHANGE Work for Women: Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran,” to emphasize the huge contributions of women towards achieving social and economic developments.

DPWH Completes 1,321 Projects in Central Luzon for 2021

Consistent with its role to provide quality road infrastructure, the Department of Public Works and Highways accomplished 1,321 projects under the 2021 Regular Infrastructure Program in Region 3.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller Tolentino said that Central Luzon Region with 14 District Engineering Offices (DEOs) has completed and rehabilitated 98.68-kilometers of road amounting to P2.68 billion; 22.3-kilometers of asphalt overlay project amounting P244 million; and rehabilitated 20 bridges costing P428 million.

Access Road Eases Travel to Maticdum Falls in Surigao Del Sur

An access road constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now ensures a safer and more convenient travel to Maticdum Falls in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

“With Maticdum Falls accessible only by foot, the newly-paved road will ease travel for both locals and visitors and better promote the miniature waterfall as a tourist destination,” said Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing reports from DPWH Region 13 Director Pol delos Santos.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) expressed confidence that the opening of Binondo - Intramuros Bridge Project will provide immediate impact of easing traffic especially with many people begin working on-site as Metro Manila shifted back to alert level 1.

Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that Undersecretary and Build Build Build Chief Implementer Emil K. Sadain is making sure that if good weather stays, the Binondo - Intramuros Bridge project will be opened to traffic this coming Holy Week.

Farmers in two (2) rural areas of Isabela can now utilize newly-concreted roads for better mobility and delivery of their farm produce to bigger markets.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Isabela 2nd District Engineering Office constructed the 2-lane roads in Isabela’s Luna and Malig Towns, in convergence with the Department of Agriculture.

DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the completed project in the town of Luna is located in Barangay Harana stretching 1.31 kilometer. DPWH allocated an amount of P11 Million for its implementation.

DPWH to Repair 3 EDSA Sections This Weekend

Motorists are advised that three (3) sections of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue in Quezon City, Makati City, and Caloocan City will be closed for repair over the weekend.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been given clearance by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to rehabilitate the following northbound sections: 1) near Quirino Highway Exit in Quezon City; and 2) bus lane (KM 27 + 436 to KM 26) in Makati City.

In Caloocan City, affected section is the south bound portion after Benin Street, 5th lane from sidewalk.
