16 Roads Closed, 19 Roads Have Limited Access as of Tuesday Noon Due To “Agaton”

As of 12:00 NN Tuesday, April 12, 2022, a total of 16 national road sections in Regions 6, 7, and 8 are closed to all types of vehicles due to the onslaught of Tropical Depression “Agaton” which caused widespread flooding, landslide, and road cut.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that DPWH Quick Response Teams in the affected regions have been deployed to conduct clearing operations along areas that are deemed safe. Six (6) roads in Regions 6 and 8 have so far been cleared and reopened.

Road Condition Updates on Areas Affected by "Agaton"

Engineers, maintenance crew and equipment of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are on the ground to continuously monitor road conditions and carry out clearing and restoration activities.

DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that efforts are in full swing with men and machinery deployed at various points to clear roadblocks brought by tropical depression “Agaton” specifically in the Visayas.

DPWH Turns Radial Road 10 Into Green Road

Significant improvements can now be seen by motorists passing through Mel Lopez Boulevard (previously Radial Road 10) in Manila City with the 172 newly-installed plant boxes by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to DPWH National Capital Region Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas, the on-going installation of remaining 32 plant boxes along the center island of the eight (8) lane national road connecting Port Area, Manila and Navotas City is more than just for aesthetic beauty.
