PRRD Inaugurates Cebu's New Iconic Bridge

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led Wednesday, April 27, 2022, the inauguration of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) project, an iconic bridge that links mainland Cebu in Cebu City to Mactan Island through Cordova.

The 8.9 kilometer CCLEX is highlighted by its iconic crosses on top of the twin pylons of the cable-stayed main bridge over the Mactan Channel befitting Cebu’s titles as “Queen City of the South”, the Philippines oldest city, and considered to be “Asia's Cradle of Christianity”.

DPWH Converts 100 Housing Units in Negros Occidental into Quarantine Facility

In support of the ongoing fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully transformed a total of 100 housing units in Silay City, Negros Occidental into a working quarantine facility.

Based on reports from DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Tiburcio DL. Canlas, Secretary Roger G. Mercado revealed that the newly improved and rehabilitated spaces are composed of existing housing units under the management of the National Housing Authority (NHA).

DPWH Improves Diversion Road in Central Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently working to provide an alternative route to better reconnect municipalities in Iloilo by improving the Mina-Badiangan Diversion Road in the central part of the province.

DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Tiburcio DL. Canlas, said that the improvement of the Mina-Badiangan Diversion Road involves the concreting of 12 intermittent sections of existing gravel portions of road with a total length of 10.77 kilometers.

DPWH Region IV-A Recognizes Winners of Women’s Month Celebration

Anchored on the annual celebration of the Women’s Month with the 2022 theme, ““We Make Change Work for Women: Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, the DPWH Regional Office No. IV-A organized a poster making contest. Bagging the first place is Dianne Liselle R. Pascual from the Maintenance Division. While, Jan Carlo Mendoza and Minette Carandang from the Equipment Management Division, and Karl Angelo M. Ortega II from the Quality Assurance and Hydrology Division were the second and third placers respectively.

DPWH Blood Donation Drive Collects 201 Pints

The Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office No. IV-A (DPWHRO-IVA) held a voluntary blood donation drive on March 28, 2022.

The bloodletting activity was organized by DPWHRO-IVA Administrative Division, in coordination with the Department of Health Region IV-A, Calamba City Health Office, San Pablo Colleges Medical Center, and TV5 Alagang Kapatid.

A total of 201 personnel from the Regional Office and the 16 District Engineering Offices (DEOs) participated in the blood drive, collecting 201 pints.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Roger G. Mercado announced on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 that the partial cost of damage to public infrastructure of Tropical Depression “Agaton” is now at P1.45 Billion.

Citing the latest report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, Secretary Mercado said that in Region 8 alone, the partial cost of damage to national roads and bridges was estimated at P1.30 Billion with P1.27 Billion on roads, and P30 million on bridges.
