‘Florita’ Update: 7 Roads Still Closed as of 12 Noon, August 24

A total of seven (7) national road sections, six (6) in Cordillera Administrative Region and one (1) in Cagayan Valley Region, were reportedly-closed due to landslide, fallen trees, and flooding brought about by Severe Tropical Storm Florita.

In a 12 noon report Wednesday, August 24, 2022 by the Department of Public Works and Highways - Bureau of Maintenance, road sections in CAR closed to traffic are the following:

1) Claveria-Calanasan- Kabugao Road, K0717+500-K0717+570, Namaltugan, Calanasan, Apayao due to road cut and soil collapse;

Paved Road Enhances Mobility in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras

Locals and tourists now reap the benefits of a 2.7-kilometer road paved by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the municipality of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.

Citing a report from District Engineer Rhodora Nuñal, DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno explained that the road now ensures better access to markets, schools, clinics, and other commercial establishments, and provides a safer alternate route going to nearby towns and barangays.

Slope Protection Underway along Alaminos-Bolinao Road in Pangasinan

Motorists traversing Alaminos – Bolinao Road in Bani, Pangasinan will soon have safer travels with the ongoing road improvement works by The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, the slope protection project that would prevent landslides in Barangay Tiep is now halfway done and is set for completion by January 2023.
