Road Network Project in Siargao Island Nearing Completion

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar announced that a new route that will provide faster connectivity and bolster Siargao Island’s worldwide marketability is now substantially complete.

The Dapa Port – Consuelo – Corazon – Sta. Cruz – Sta. Fe – Libertad – Cabitoonan – Catangnan – Gen. Luna Road Project involves paving of 11.85-kilometer road and construction of the 2-lane 348.8 lineal meter Catangnan-Cabitoonan Bridge which showcases wide view of Siargao’s turquoise waters.

DPWH Constructs New Roads Leading to New Clark City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is committed to address the potential demand for better roads within the Clark Special Economic Zone with the construction of two access roads leading to the New Clark City (NCC) in Capas, Tarlac.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, based on a report by Tarlac Second Disrict Engineer Neil Farala, identified the two (2) roads via the Kalangitan Access Road as the New Clark City to Tarlac-Zambales Road (TZR) and the McArthur Highway to New Clark City.

Secretary Villar said that civil work activities for the ramps and viaduct structure are moving forward as it aims for the bridge substantial completion towards December 2021.

A new flood control structure has been constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) along the country’s cleanest river, Lamut River in Ifugao Province in an effort to prevent damaging agricultural lands.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the new Lamut Flood Control involved construction of a 386-meter concrete wall along the body of water recognized as the cleanest river by DENR in 2019.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed a dike in San Juan, La Union that will ensure the safety of residents and their properties from damage brought by typhoons and rapid rise of flood water.

According to a report submitted to Secretary Mark A. Villar by the La Union 1st District Engineering Office, the 70.8-linear meter concrete dike was constructed with the use of the total allocated budget of P4.95-Million from the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) to serve as protection against destruction of houses, livelihood, and possible loss of lives.
